The community in which he had been a life-long member mourned Sunday
when word of Mr. King's death was heard. He died shortly after 4
o'clock Sunday morning after an illness of several weeks duration.

William L. King was born on December 7, 1872, the eldest son of
Alfred and Mary Belinda Evans King, pioneers of the Charter Grove
community. He attended the district school. In February, 1894, Julia
Mae Whitacre became his wife. The Kings began their wedded life on
the homestead of the former's parents, and with the exception of
short residences in Rockford and Sycamore, they continued to reside
there with their family until they chose Charter Grove as their
home.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Earl Westlake, of
Charter Grove; two sons, Edwin King, who lives on the home farm and
Harry, of 439 Washington Place, Sycamore. One daughter, Marjorie,
died a few years ago. Other surviving relatives are seven
grandchildren, Mrs. Fanny King of Genoa, step-mother of the
deceased; two half brothers, Harvey King of Charter Grove and Howard
of Chicago and one half sister, Mrs. Edna Olmstead of Barrington.
